Funeral Mass for Adeline Gustafson, age 89, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio, Minnesota with Fr. Joe Vandeberg Celebrant. Organist will be Becky Draper with special music provided by Tom and Pearl Horning and the St. Mary's Catholic Church Choir. Pallbearers will be Jay Melberg, Scott Melberg, Casey Melberg, Keith Narr, Chris Denardo and Mike Sabol. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adeline's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, rural Chokio. Visitation will be held Monday, August 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Adeline Francis Heck Melberg Gustafson was born in Beardsley, Big Stone County, Minnesota on March 1st 1924 to Joseph and Francis (Stoick) Heck. Adeline grew up in rural Big Stone County as one of six children. She attended Beardsley Country School for grades one through five and completed grades six through eight in Graceville. Adeline graduated high School from St Mary's Academy in 1942. Adeline was united in marriage to Ross Melberg in December 1942. They farmed together until Ross's death January 7, 1968. On May 1, 1982 Adeline was united in marriage to Walter Gustafson. They made their home together in Wheaton until Walter's death February 18th, 1996. Adeline was an active member of the Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton. Adeline worked for forty seven years for the Wheaton Community Hospital as a nurse's aide. She loved helping the patients and always tried to comfort them. Adeline often opened her home to nurses who were snowed in or were in need of a place to sleep for the night. She brought joy and love to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed. Adeline passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013 at her daughter and son in law's home in Ramsey, Minnesota. Adeline is survived by five children: Cecilia (Charles) LaDue of Ramsey, Minnesota; Jean Melberg of Little Canada, Minnesota; Robert (Sharon) Melberg of Chokio, Minnesota; DeWayne (Diane) Melberg of Alexandria, Minnesota and Linda (Steve) Stemig of Jordan, Minnesota; grandchildren: Sara (Keith) Narr, Dean LaDue, Kevin LaDue, Jay (Laurie) Melberg, Tracy (Gary) Carsten, Wendy Melberg, Shelly (Bryan) Kent, Robin (Lee) Otto, Scott (Amber) Melberg, Casey Melberg, Amy (Chris) Denardo, Ashley (Mike) Sabol, Katie Melberg, Carrie (Andy) Erickson and Michelle (Dan) Dennison; great-grandchildren: Grace Narr, Tate Narr, Owen Narr, Sophia Narr, Alissa Melberg, Savannah Melberg, Skyler Hill, Tarryn Hill, Machenzie Carsten, Madison Carsten, Montana Carsten, Collin Kent, Parker Kent, Toby Otto, Dominic Denardo, Eli Denardo, Mikayla Dennison and Norah Dennison. Adeline was preceded in death by husbands Ross Melberg and Walter Gustafson, grandson Donavan Melberg, parents Joe and Frances Heck, and siblings Tony (Mary) Heck, Lawrence (Irene) Heck, Rose (Maurice) Wohlers, Regina (Edward) Boyle and Angus (Richard) Meyers.
