Alfred Alf Gustafson of Wheaton passed away Tuesday morning, January 6th, at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota. Alf was 87 years old. Funeral Services for Alfred Gustafson will be held Thursday at 1:30 PM at the Bethlehem Covenant Church. in Wheaton with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery in rural Traverse County. Alf was born in Wheaton, Minnesota on April 5, 1921 to Oscar A. Gustafson and Esther Antonia Ax. He was the ninth of thirteen children. He grew up in rural Wheaton and attended Country School. He was confirmed June 9th, 1935 at the Mission Church in Wheaton. Alfred moved to California and worked as a caretaker and did maintenance work. He then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was a custodian for the Salt Lake City School District. Alf retired from there in 1986 and moved back to Wheaton. He was member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton. Alf liked fishing and was especially fond of caring for his pet dogs. Alfred is survived by 2 sisters: Emma Martineau of Florida and Gloria Gustafson of Utah, 2 brothers: Ernest (Beverly) Gustafson of Bloomington, Minnesota and Donald (Joann) Gustafson of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, sister-in-law: Adeline Gustafson of Wheaton, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his eight older brothers and sisters: Marian, Elvie, Evelyn, Walter, Harriet, Gladys, Florence, and Delbert.
