Anita Anderson

Anita Anderson, age 98, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Organist will be Sara Lee Rinke.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Pallbearers will be Ray Fiedler, Ray Ehlers, Carly Marxen, Gene Marxen, Philip Brink and Clayton Ernst. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Anita's step-great-grandchildren and her step-great-great-granddaughter Aubrey Gemmill.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening, June 4th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Monday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Anita Johanna Marxen was born June 3, 1918 in Walls Township, Minnesota the only child of Arnold and Martha (Zochert) Marxen. She attended country school in Traverse County until eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Carl J. Anderson on October 26, 1937 in Wheaton. The couple resided in Fergus Falls, Minnesota for a time, later returning to the area to farm.

Anita was a cook at the Wheaton American Legion for many years, a homemaker, baker, member of the Birthday Club, Legion Auxiliary, and St. John Lutheran Church Circle. Carl passed away in 2003.

Anita is survived by her granddaughter Bridgett (Dennis) Versdahl of Breckenridge, Minnesota; nieces: Mary (Mac) McGowan of New York Mills, Minnesota; and Joy (John) Bach of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; step-grandchildren: Clayton (Julie) Ernst and Angie Hofmann both of Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, son Gary, and step-grandson Jason Ernst.
