Anita Antrim was born on November 13, 1939 to Heike and Gertrude (Nelson) Wagner in Appleton, Minnesota, where she attended elementary and high school. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. She was raised on a farm site east of Appleton. She and her sister enjoyed playing together in a makeshift play house in the trees behind their house in the summer. They also loved to play paper dolls a lot. Another favorite activity was playing in the snowbanks in the winter and ice skating on the pond near their home as well as the skating rink in town in their younger years. After high school, Anita was married to Lawrence Kepner of Clontarf, MN. They lived in Morris, MN where Anita first joined the Catholic Church. They had two daughters, Linda and Judy. Larry drowned in Big Stone Lake on June 4, 1961. She was married to Tom Antrim on August 11, 1962, and they had another daughter, Michele and a son, Daniel. Together they farmed in the Herman-Norcross area. Anita was always actively involved in her community. One of her most rewarding activities was her work with Toys for Tots in Traverse County. She just recently had begun volunteering at the County Food Shelf. She also found time to volunteer at the nursing home, styling hair for the residents once a week, and at the County Fair working for the American Legion. Anita was very active in her faith community, including Eucharistic Minister and Lector. Over the years she also led Faith formation for youth and directed the choir. In addition to her volunteer and church activities, she also participated in Civic Leadership. She was on the Wheaton City Council from January 2007 to March 2013, the Economic Development Council for two years, and served as an Election Judge. Anita enjoyed bowling and golfing, having served on the Golf Course Board from 1985 to 2010 and in 1994 was the first female President. Anita loved to spend time traveling, especially when she could travel with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and visiting with her many friends at the Legion. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Sester of Ortonville, MN; children, Judith (Tony) Fennell of Fargo; Michele Larson (Tim Zwickey) of L'Anse, Michigan; and Daniel (Rhonda) Antrim of Lisbon, North Dakota; her grandchildren Carrie Quinby, Amanda Lokhorst, MacKenzie Fennell, Alexandra Aberle, Rebecca Larson, Rachel Antrim and Jacob Antrim. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Keira and Sarah Quinby, and Addison and Hollis Lokhorst. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence and Tom, her daughter Linda Kruger, her parents, Gertrude and Louis Brackenbury and Heike Wagner and her brother-in-law Jim Sester. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Traverse County Food Shelf or Toys for Tots programs given in memory of Anita.
