Funeral Service for Ardeen Baker, 70, of Graceville, Minnesota will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Organist will be Sara Rinke. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Ardeens Grandchildren . Interment will take place at a later date at the Ely Cemetery in Ely, Minnesota. Ardeen Luella Marohl was born September 29, 1937 in Duerr Township, near Hankinson, North Dakota to Arnold and Elsie (Willprecht) Marohl. She was baptized October 24, 1937 and confirmed May 13, 1951 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. She was united in marriage to Alfred Baker on February 7, 1955 in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple lived in Lidgerwood where Ardeen worked as a waitress. On August 13, 1956 the couple moved to Ely, Minnesota where Ardeen worked as a nurses aid and substitute mail carrier. Ardeen also worked for a local dry cleaner while in Ely. Ardeen was very active in the church. She served as the L.W.M.L. President, and was a Jr. Walther League Counselor. She was an excellent seamstress who sewed new drapes for the church, as well as for many other people. Ardeen and Alfred enjoyed spending many winters in Texas from 1991-2006. The couple moved to Graceville, Minnesota in June of 2003. Ardeen passed away on April 28, 2008 at the Courage Cottage Hospice Center in Morris, Minnesota. Ardeen is survived by her husband Alfred Baker of Graceville, Minnesota, two daughters: Deborah (Todd) Manske of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Doreen (William) Rauch of Ely, Minnesota, two sisters: Mavis Stibal of Lidgerwood, North Dakota, and Gertrude Kuhl of Desboro, Canada, one brother: LeRoy (Diana) Marohl of Lidgerwood, North Dakota, four grandchildren & six great-grandchildren. Ardeen was preceded in death by her parents, son: Jeffrey, brothers: Norman Marohl and Virgil Marohl-who passed away in infancy, sister: DeFayne Marohl-who passed away in infancy, mother-in-law: Sarah Baker and father-in-law William Baker.
