Audrey Mae (Schutt) Jacobs was born October 2, 1933 in Fairmount, North Dakota to Clarence and Linnea (Peterson) Schutt. She grew up on a farm by LeMars, North Dakota where her parents farmed. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1951. Audrey moved to Wheaton to help Hank and Ann Rinke take care of their family on their farm. While working for the Rinkes, Audrey met a neighbor, Orrin Jacobs, and the couple married on June 28, 1957 at the Bethany Church in LeMars, North Dakota.

The couple farmed in the Wheaton/Dumont area and raised their family. To this union five children were born: Wendy, Linda, Michael "Mike", Alan and Scott. The couple continued farming until 1981 when they retired but continued to live on the farm. Audrey began working at the Traverse Care Center from 1989 until 1995. She was recognized as the nurses' aid of the year in 1995. Orrin passed away in 1994. Audrey received a four-legged daughter, Flame, from a litter of puppies from her daughter. Flame was known to go everywhere with Audrey.

Audrey was known to be very independent. Following Orrin's passing she continued on with plans to build their new home. Audrey moved into her home in Wheaton in 1995. Audrey wasn't afraid to tackle many projects. She did woodwork, carpentry, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, puzzles, canning and gardening. She loved to bowl in her women's league, help with St. John Lutheran Church Ladies Circle, and the Block and Tackle Quilters Club. She was very active in most of these groups right up until her death. She loved to cook and had a huge collection of cookbooks. She learned how to search the internet for recipes and watch cooking shows on T.V. She loved to read novels. Audrey enjoyed spending time with family; especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Audrey is survived by three children: Scott Jacobs of Wheaton; Wendy (Dan) Swedlund of Breckenridge, Minnesota; and Linda (Dave) Barina of Breckenridge; one brother Arlen (Marlene) Schutt of Fairmount, North Dakota; three grandchildren: Derrick Swedlund of Lake Metigoshe, North Dakota; Amanda (Adam) Erickson of Fargo, North Dakota; and Tana Jo (Topher) Riddle of Wheaton; and four great-grandchildren: Carter Lee, Morgan Erickson, Lily Riddle and Devin Erickson.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Orrin; parents; two sons: Mike and Alan Jacobs; great-grandson Easton Riddle; and brothers: Lloyd, Clifford, Dale and Milton.
