Brenda “Bren” Kay Oien passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that touched countless lives. Known for her infectious hugs, radiant smile, and deep, genuine care for people and animals, Bren had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
A skilled electrician by trade, Bren dedicated much of her life to hands-on work that made a difference. Most recently, she served as the building manager for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a role that allowed her to combine her love for crafting with her passion for helping and caring for others.
Bren is survived by her mother, Mary Jo Oien; her sisters, Becky Skipper, Billi Jo Rogalski and Katie Tempel; her brother, Richard A. Oien (Kathy); six nieces, Stephanee (Skyler), Carissa, Stonee (Taylor), Bailee (Adam), Tonee (Dylan), Rylee (Tyler) and one nephew, Stephen; and thirteen great nieces and nephews. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
Bren's legacy lives on not only in the countless lives she touched but also in the warmth, joy, and compassion she brought into the world. She will be remembered always for her big heart, giving spirit, and the genuine love she showed to those around her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard R. Oien, brother-in-law, Mark Rogalski, paternal grandparents, Roy and Susie Oien, and maternal grandparents, Ed and Rosie Deutsch.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, in honor of Bren's commitment to ensuring every child has a bed to sleep in and a place to dream. Donations by check can be made out to Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Please ensure you annotate the Chapter's name (SD-Sisseton) in your check's memo section and send to the Donation Processing Center: Sleep in Heavenly Peace, P.O. Box 2905, Phoenix, AZ 85062.
