Funeral Services for Carl F. Bunn Olson will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. Pastor Tom Olson will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening at the Ranney Funeral Chapel in Wheaton from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and at the church 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be held with Veterans Honors at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. Pallbearers were Carls 4 sons; Tom, John, Roger, and Steve, and 2 grandchildren: Darrin Olson and Mariel Olson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Reinard Schmitz, Norman Schmitz, Marvin Raguse, Myron Johnson, Gerald Braaten, and Arthur Larson. Carl passed away Thursday evening, May 7, 2009 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. He was 90 years old. Carl was born in Wahpeton, North Dakota on March 12, 1919 to Charles and Edith (Jenne) Olson. Following high school, Carl worked as a painter in Fargo, North Dakota until he enlisted in the Army Engineers in April of 1942. He spent 2 ½ years in Iran building roads for the Army, and then another 6 months in Europe. After honorable discharge Carl returned to Wheaton and married Janet Cole on November 14, 1946. Carl began working for Oscarson Hatchery and Oscarson Electric, and then started his own business, Olson Plumbing, Heating and Excavating, which he ran until his retirement. Carl was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served on their Property Committee. He was a member of the Wheaton VFW and a 53 year member of the American Legion. He was proud of his service to our country. In his retirement, Carl loved working with stained glass and made many projects for friends and family members. He also loved woodworking and working in his garden. Carl is survived by his wife: Janet, four sons: Tom and Connie of St. Cloud, Minnesota, John and Barbara of Rothchild, Wisconsin, Roger and Kim of Phoenix, Arizona and Steve and his special friend Jay Lichtsinn of Phoenix, Arizona, seven grandchildren: Darrin Olson, Leigh (Luke) Rusin, Kelsey Olson, Jordan (Joanna) Olson, Courtney (Mike) Cyphers, Taylor (Matt) More, and Mariel Olson, two great grandchildren: Charlotte Cyphers and Addison More. He also has one brother-in-law: Kenny and Jane Cole of Phoenix, Arizona. Carl was preceded in death by one brother: Paul, and five sisters: Charlotte Lottie) Matheson, Agnes Oscarson, Clara Stine, Mildred Drumright and Mary Miller.
