Funeral Service for Carlton Cally Fredrick Schumacher, 83, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Pallbearers will be Callys 6 Grandchildren , Carlton Schumacher, Jay Rinke, Brandi Schumacher, Eric Larson, Joshua Rinke, & Stephanie Rinke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gordon Lewis, Wally Krumweide, Marlin Hoglund, LeRoy Lindquist, Roy Petersen, David Benson, Art Larson, Tom Horsman, Duane Gauger and Scott Horsman. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton, Minnesota. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 27, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Carlton Fredrick Schumacher was born on December 22, 1922 in Traverse County, Minnesota to John and Florence (Hoglund) Schumacher. He was an only child. Carlton was baptized April 5, 1923 and confirmed May 30, 1937 at Bethlehem Covenant Church. He attended school in Wheaton and graduated from WHS in 1941. Carlton married Helen Gilbertson on March 14, 1942. They farmed around Wheaton and bought the present home from his parents in 1952. To this union four children were born. Carlton was an active member of Good Shepherd Church where he served on the church council. He also served on the Wheaton Co-op Creamery and Oil Station Boards. He also participated in a bowling league for many years. Carlton enjoyed life. His family and friends were very important. Family gatherings were most enjoyable. He loved to hunt and fish, play cards and the game Farkel with grandchildren and friends. Carlton took great pride in his farming. Cally will be missed and remembered for his good sense of humor and friendly smile. Carlton passed away Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Rosholt Care Center, Rosholt, South Dakota at the age of 83. Carlton is survived by his wife: Helen, one son, John (Kathleen) Schumacher of New Prague, MN, two daughters: Joni (Karl) Bednarchik of Wahpeton, ND, Nancy (Bill) Winick of Dayton, MN, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter: Payton Kathleen Schumacher, one brother-in-law: Glen (Lorraine) Gilbertson, two sister-in-laws: Evalyn Fitzsimmons, Lou Ann (Myron) Earsley and several nieces and nephews. Carlton was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon (Schumacher) Larson, parents John and Florence Schumacher and father and mother-in-law: Arthur and Blenda (Markegaard) Gilbertson.
