Carolyn J. Deal

Carolyn J. Deal, age 83, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Carolyn Joyce Deal was born on March 20, 1943, in Wheaton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Philip and Fern (Kurth) Schmitz. Carolyn was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Wheaton and was a member of the class of 1961.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Joseph Deal in Wheaton, Minnesota, and their marriage was blessed with six children: Brian, Jeanne, David, Jennifer, Jodi, and Andrew. Over the years, the couple resided in Wheaton, Taylors Falls, and most recently, Hutchinson, MN. They shared 65 years of marriage.

Carolyn spent many years as a bookkeeper, bank teller, and in property management.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She also had a lifelong love of animals and treasured the many pets she cared for over the years.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Joseph Deal of Hutchinson, MN; Her children, Brian (Jamine) Deal of Waconia, MN; Jeanne (Karl) Baldry of Hutchinson, MN; David (Linda) Deal of Chaska, MN; Jodi (James) Lindgren of Apple Valley, MN; Andrew Deal of Columbiana, OH; and son-in-law Bruce Wilson of Burnsville, MN; 14 grandchildren: Laura (Mickey) Ramczyk, Patrick (Katelynn) Deal, Sean Deal, Nate (Mandy) Baldry, Nicole Ryan, Seth (Brittany) Baldry, Erica (Patrick) McBride, Justin (Emily) Deal, Jordan Wilson, Tyler (Chantell) Lindgren, Abigail Lindgren, Zoe (October) Yates, Madden and Parker Deal; 16 great-grandchildren: Joseph, Jack, Landon, and Ava Ramczyk; Jackson Fabel; Lucy and Cora Baldry; Kaden, Carter, and Beau Ryan; Maxlyn and Madi Baldry; Millie and Ava McBride; and Elliott and Sunny Lindgren; Her brother, Eddie (Sharon) Schmitz; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Wilson, and her parents, Phil and Fern Schmitz.

Carolyn’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Harmony River Living Center and, most recently, the hospice care team for the compassionate care they provided. They treated Carolyn with kindness, dignity, and respect, always making her feel valued.
