Funeral Services for Carrie Anna Quandt will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Pastor Charles Horkey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church and will continue Monday morning one hour prior to service time. Pallbearers are Gerald Siltman, Ted Siltman, Rick Nelson, Lynn Propp, Donald Beyer, and Gordon Christensen. Organist is Sara Rinke and Special Music by Sandy (Siltman) Nelson and her daughter Kristyn. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Carrie passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2011 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. She was 98 years old. Carrie was born on December 21, 1912 in Monson Township, to Gerhard H. and Ida (Babst) Siltman. She baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Monson Township on January 13, 1913, by Pastor Geo. W. Scheitel. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton on April 10, 1927 by Pastor Theo A.C. Heine. Carrie graduated from Wheaton High School in 1932. She then graduated from Wheaton Teacher Training Department in 1933. She taught at rural schools, District 46 and District 2, from 1933 to 1937. Carrie went to California in July of 1937 at attend the funeral of an aunt who was married to her mothers brother, Art Babst. She stayed in California and graduated with Honors from Woodbury Business College on May 20, 1938. She then worked as Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Coca Cola Company, West Coast Regional Office, Atlanta, Georgia. Carrie married Ewald H. Quandt in Los Angeles, California and upon his death on June 28, 1973, he was brought to Wheaton for a memorial service and burial at Wildwood Cemetery. Carrie then retired and returned to Wheaton after forty years in California, to be closer to her family. Carrie is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her brother, William Siltman, sisters, Nora Montonye, Martha Hausmann and Lillian Teske, and nieces, Cheryl Ann Siltman, Norma Jean Maier and Janice Abraham, and a nephew, Lee Hausmann.
