Daniel Wetterling
Daniel Wetterling, age 72, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his residence in Wheaton. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. David Strom officiating. Organist will be LeAnn Bjornson. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Hoffman, Minnesota. Military Rites will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post #80. Visitation will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Honorary urn bearers will be Daniel's grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Daniel Eugene Wetterling was born May 15, 1943 in Kensington, Minnesota to Vern and Ethel (Buck) Wetterling. He grew up in Kensington, Minnesota where he graduated high school. Dan was inducted into the US Army on March 10, 1965 and honorably discharged on February 22, 1967. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal and Basic Qualifications Badge. Daniel was united in marriage to Connie Johnson on December 2, 1967 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Daniel and Connie raised their family in Minneapolis, Brooten and moved to Wheaton in 1973. Daniel drove for Jacobson Transport Trucking from 1973 until 2008 when he retired. He went back to work for Jacobson Transport from 2009 until 2013 on a part time basis. Daniel Loved playing cards, especially poker, and was a member of the Merton Dale American Legion in Wheaton. Daniel is survived by four sons: Tony Wetterling of Wheaton; Troy (Kristie) Wetterling of St. Augusta, Minnesota; Shaun (Angie) Wetterling of Browns Valley, Minnesota and Jason (Angie) Wetterling of Wahpeton, North Dakota; sister Phyllis Fleischfresser of Alexandria, Minnesota; brother Richard (Linda) Wetterling of Kensington, Minnesota; and ten grandchildren: Tyler, Kaitlyn, Zack, Mackenzie, Braxton, Madison, Norah, Jazzmin, Jaedyn and Gracie. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife Connie, parents, and brother Darryl.
