Darlene Hauschild

Darlene Gladys (Marsh) Hauschild walked into the arms of Jesus on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Sanford Hospital in Wheaton, MN.

A Public Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Cemetery in Oak Valley Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota.

Darlene was born on June 21, 1939 to Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Gladys Mae (Stokes) Marsh. She was the sixth child out of eight and was born at home in an old log cabin in Oak Valley Township, near Henning, Minnesota. Her large family moved many times and lived in an 8’x20’ trailer for quite some time so her dad could work as a crane operator. She graduated with the Class of 1957 from Wheaton High School. She then attended college in St. Paul, MN for a short time for dental hygiene. On April 11, 1959 she married Ardean Dale Hauschild and they were blessed with six children.  They lived on the Hauschild family dairy farm near Dumont, MN for nearly forty years. They later divorced. Darlene was the best mom her children could have hoped for; giving them love, support, protection and the warmest best hugs.

She is known to all western Minnesota for her unsurpassed cake decorating abilities, and let’s not forget the baked goods-especially the caramel rolls. Darlene baked her way into many hearts making wedding, graduation, birthday, and confirmation cakes and also her many years of cooking and baking in various restaurants. She owned and operated the Dumont Cafe in the mid 80’s.

Darlene was as tough as nails with a gentle loving touch. Towels warmed in the dryer awaited as her children climbed out of the bath, but soap went in their mouth if they used the good Lord’s name in vain. She loved Jesus and her worn red bible was well used with it’s many bookmarks tucked in nearly every page. She loved old country music and hymns. She always surrounded herself with her music. Darlene loved to dance and have her beloved friend, Wayne, play his guitar for her. She had a green thumb and planted gorgeous flower beds on the farm year after year. She had a lifelong love for animals. She sewed, crocheted, knitted and quilted. She could be found sitting on the floor for long periods of time playing with dolls and toys with her grandchildren. She was a worry wart but had a great sense of humor, which she needed with six kids!

Darlene leaves behind six heartbroken but fully loved children: Bryan (Becky) Hauschild, Artesia, NM; Karmin Hauschild, Wheaton, MN; Stanley Hauschild, Prescott, AZ; Douglas (Julie) Hauschild, St. Bonifacius, MN; August (Reina) Hauschild, Fort Lee, NJ; Tonya (Jeff) Roth, Red Wing, MN; grandchildren: Eli (Tracy) Hauschild, Cody Stopka and Colter Stopka, Nathanael Hauschild and Lilie Hauschild, Hannah Hauschild and Ella Hauschild, Katie Hauschild and Abigail Hauschild, Kylie Roth and Autumn Roth, and Daniel Hauschild; great grandchildren: Leo, Lincoln and Piper Hauschild; sisters: Zelta Brooks and Ida Mae Lasick; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Marsh; her Mother, Gladys Marsh; brothers: Edward Marsh and Alfred Marsh; sisters: Elvira Branster, Marcella Chase, Beverly Sundvall; and her dear friend, Wayne Ducote.
