Dennis Bruns

Funeral Services for Dennis Lee Bruns, 45, of Morris, Minnesota will be held Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Minnesota with Rev. Stephen Olson officiating. Organist will be LaVerne Olson with special music provided by Rick & Erick Stark. Pallbearers will be Nieces & Nephews Randy Johnson, Shannon White, Kevin Johnson, Rachel Bruns, Joel Bruns, Erin Peterson, Michael Peterson, Billy Connelly & Benjamyn Peterson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Farming, Shooting and Poker Boys. Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Morris, Minnesota. Dennis was born in Morris, Minnesota on April 13, 1962 to Leslie and Delores (Woodke) Bruns. He was baptized on June 3, 1962 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Morris, Minnesota and confirmed at Aeneas Lutheran Church on June 19, 1977 in rural Kensington, Minnesota. Growing up Dennis was very active in 4-H, his church, and the family farm. He graduated from Morris High School in 1980. Following graduation Dennis became a Luther League Leader at church. Dennis worked a short time at John Deere in Morris before becoming a full time farmer, a career which had always been his destiny. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants and received the 2000 Ernest Strubbe Award from the Stevens County Pheasants Forever. On December 17, 1994 Dennis was united in marriage to Lynette Peterson of Wheaton, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Minnesota. To this union were born Kaitlin in 1995, Jordan in 1997, Nicole in 2000 and Ashlee in 2005. Dennis loved his wife and children dearly. He especially enjoyed the time he spent living, loving, and laughing with his children. He took them sledding, snowmobiling, tubing, jet skiing, fishing, hunting and farming as often as he could. Dennis taught his children the importance of family, faith, and friendship through his living example of their importance in his life. Dennis enjoyed farming, church affairs, hunting, shooting sporting clays, poker night and the camaraderie that comes with each. He served on the Hoffman Co-op Board, the Centrol Board and on several church committees. Dennis passed away on February 20, 2008 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dennis is survived by his Wife: Lynette Bruns of Morris, Minnesota, Four children: Kaitlin, Jordan, Nicole & Ashlee Bruns all of Morris, Minnesota, Parents: Leslie & Delores Bruns of Morris, Minnesota, one Sister: Carol (Daryl) Johnson of Evansville, Minnesota, One brother: Dwaine (Jeanne) Bruns of Avon, Minnesota, Mother-in-law: Jean Peterson of Wheaton, Minnesota, two brothers-in-law: Greg Peterson of Ortonville, Minnesota & Jeff (Karyn) Peterson of Dumont, Minnesota, Nieces & Nephews: Randy Johnson of Sartell, Minnesota, Shannon (Jason) White of Big Lake, Minnesota, Kevin (Robin) Johnson of Brandon, Minnesota, Rachel Bruns of Decorah, Iowa, Joel Bruns of Avon, Minnesota, Erin Peterson of Duluth, Minnesota, Michael Peterson of Ortonville, Minnesota, & Billy Connelly & Benjamyn Peterson of Dumont, Minnesota, & several aunts, uncles and cousins.
