Dennis Esterly
Dennis Gene Esterly, age 61, passed away March 17, 2014 at his home in Brainerd, MN. Dennis was born June 13, 1952 to DeLila and Vernon Esterly of Herman. He grew up in Herman and graduated from Herman High School in 1970. After graduating from Willmar Technical School in 1972, he worked for General Communications in Minneapolis. He ran his own business, RF Communications, adapting to the changes in technology. He claimed to have the first cell phone in Minnesota. He married Sue Kennedy in 1988. They lived in Maple Plain, MN. He married Cheryl Bell in 2000, and later moved to Buffalo, MN. Denny enjoyed cars, duck and deer hunting and spending time at the cabin shared with his brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and wife Cheryl. Dennis is survived by his son, Scott Van Eps (Amy) of Chaska, brother Darrell (Teresa) of Rice, MN, sisters Janet Bowman (Ken) of White Bear Lake, MN and Janice Carlson (Gary) of Princeton, MN. , grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their children. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Chapel in Herman, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home. Inurnment will be Lakeside Cemetery, Herman. A lunch will follow the service at the Herman American Legion.
