Dennis Dwayne Groneberg was born June 1, 1932 in Graceville, Minnesota to Ernest and Wanda (Beyer) Groneberg. The family lived on a farm near Norcross, Minnesota where Dennis helped on the family farm. Dennis entered the United States Army where he served from December of 1954 until his honorable discharge in December of 1956. Dennis received the Good Conduct Medal for his service.
Dennis was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Swedlund on February 18, 1953 in Herman, Minnesota. The couple resided on a farm east of Wheaton where they raised their five children. Dennis was honored to receive the Outstanding Farmer of the Year Award. Dennis actively bought and sold farm machinery through the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Dennis was a hard worker who always made family a priority. He cherished time spent together and especially enjoyed camping trips with loved ones. What began as camping adventures in a grain truck with neighbors eventually grew into years of traveling in a motorhome and exploring new places. Dennis and Sandra traveled throughout Florida, Texas, and Arizona, and spent thirty-seven years in Mesa, Arizona.
Dennis loved playing cards, visiting with neighbors, and sharing good times with friends and family. An avid fisherman, he found great joy in spending time on the water and sharing his passion for fishing with others. He also loved hunting and embraced every opportunity to spend time outdoors.
Dennis is survived by his five children: Randall (Rhonda) Groneberg of Ipswitch, SD; and their children Jamie (Jamie) Groneberg and Nicholas (Samantha) Groneberg and Lottie Groneberg; Gayle Erlandson (Steve Dralle) of Wheaton, MN; and her daughters: Kari (Tracy) Hill and Kayla (Brian) Nohl; DeWayne (Marie) Groneberg of Wheaton; and their children Davis (Eryn) Groneberg and Lindsey (Eric) Dragonetti; Marsha Franzen (Kip Sundlee) of Alexandria, MN; and her children Stephanie (Tim) Balgaard, Carlee (Zac) Beireis and Ryan (Brooke) Franzen; LaVonne (Greg) Dehn of Rogers, MN; and their children Megan (Ryan) Kollman and Matt (Isa) Dehn; along with seventeen great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Janet Groneberg.
