Bucky was born on November 7, 1918 to William and Inga Backman in Rosholt, South Dakota where she was also baptized, confirmed and attended school, graduating salutatorian with the class of 1936.

She will always be remembered for her warm smile and gentle demeanor with a servant's heart. Her strength was an example of how she lived her life. Her happiest times were inviting friends and family over for a meal or a cup of coffee-that famous Swedish coffee that was always better with an egg added. Many times, this was served with her famous chocolate angel food cake.

Bucky was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

In her formative years she was an avid reader, always taking classes and learning something new. Bucky especially enjoyed being a girl scout leader for many years and being a long-time member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton. She and her husband, Lawrence, shared sixty-two years together raising a family, building their business Jacobson Transport, and enjoying many travels, especially trips to Sweden and spending winters in Arizona.

Dora is survived by her four daughters: Connie (Darold) Bihrle of Wheaton; Joetta (Tony) Walthall of Staples, MN; Kerwin (Dick) Donat of Staples, MN; and Jill (Ronnie) McCullar of Wheaton; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dora was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven siblings (spouses): Sadie (Ervin) Voss; Mabel (Ed) Sand; Clara (Gottford) Nelson; Clarence (Cora) Backman; Stanley (Luella) Backman; Ardyce (Dwain) LeClair; and Joyce (Frances) Mayou; sisters-in-law (spouses): Alice (Alvin) Vollmers; LaVera (Marvin) Mackner; Muriel Jacobson; and Pearl (Gordon) Lewis.

The family is grateful for the care that Bucky received at the Traverse Care Center and for the friends and family who energized her by their visits.

Memorials are preferred to the Bethlehem Covenant Church of Wheaton.
