Doris Schilling

Funeral Service for Doris E. Schilling, 81, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Friday, September 8, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman with Rev. Roger Rotvold officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Stotesbury, Sterling Luikens, Gene Bakke, Steve Bakke, Greg Goin and Ken Werk. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Doris was born March 21, 1925 in Lakota, North Dakota to Louis and Emma (Loe) Bakke. Emma grew in Lakota and graduated from Lakota High School. Doris furthered her education at Mayville State Teachers College for several years followed by two years and graduation from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She spent the next 39 years teaching in High Schools in Erskine, Pine River, Detroit Lakes & the last 22 years of teaching spent in Herman, Minnesota. Doris retired from teaching in 1986. She married August Fredrick Schilling of Herman who preceded her in death in 1966. Doris was blessed with a beautiful voice that she loved to share at many church and community functions. Doris was an avid cat lover and loved to play cards. Doris passed away September 5, 2006 at the Hoffman Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman, Minnesota. Doris is survived by one brother: Donovan (Irene) Bakke of Bloomington, Minnesota; & several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by one sister: Lucille, and two brothers Lewis & Willard.
