Dody was born on June 6, 1927 in Elbow Lake, MN to Henry and Signa Reckner. Her mother died when Dody was seven years old at which time she moved to Norcross to live with her uncle and aunt, Joe and Hulda Allen. Dody spent her junior and senior years in high school living with Roy and Josie Smith in Herman. After graduating from high school in 1946, Dody worked for one year in Minneapolis. She returned to Herman and married Charles Walter Jones on November 20, 1947.

Charlie and Dody had three children and when they were young, Dody stayed at home with them. She then worked for twenty years at the Herman Review for Dean and Harriet Brenner. Her primary responsibility was a linotype operator and she performed a variety of other print shop jobs. She then helped at Denny’s Café, helping Denny and Faye Vipond when help was needed.  Dody also worked at Trisko’s Grocery Store in Herman.

Dody loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her pies were a family favorite as was her quick wit. One of Dody’s favorite pastimes was golfing. She golfed many years at the Wheaton Country Club and later at the Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course. After many years of enjoying golf, her back forced her to give it up. She often said the back pain was probably caused by all of the snowmobiling she did in her younger years, which she also loved. She was an avid sports fan and loved when her favorite teams did well and was disappointed when they didn’t. Dody was an avid card player and really appreciated a good game.  She also enjoyed many cups of coffee with friends over the years, especially in the mornings at Denny’s.

Dody was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church auxiliary for over fifty years. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary for sixty years.

Dody is survived by her three children: David (Rhonda) Jones of Alexandria, MN; Janice (Randy) Tolifson of Norcross, MN; and Joyce Jones of Herman, MN; grandchildren: Mike (special friend Hazel) Tolifson; Tammy (Steve) Berg; Matthew (Abby) Jones; and Andrea (Brent) Hipsher; seven great grandchildren: Shane and Kyle Tolifson; Brianna Berg; Sophia and Zachary Jones; Henry and William Hipsher; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dody was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents Henry and Signa; brother Jack Reckner; sister Donna Jones; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.
