Douglas Duane Olson was born on January 14, 1958, the oldest son of Duane and Dorathea Olson of Mountain Lake, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at Mountain Lake Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Doug graduated from Mountain Lake High School. His classmates and teachers described him as “Somewhat shy but full of fun, He’s always nice to everyone”. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Minnesota Waseca in 1978. He began his career as a bookkeeper with Cenex in Wheaton, MN and continued until late 2000. He then went on to a CPA firm for a short period of time. He returned to Cenex as general manager in April of 2001 to present.

On September 29, 1990 Doug was united in marriage to Linda Olson and they made their home in Dumont. In April 1992 they were blessed with their daughter Brandi. Other than spending time with family, visiting with friends and working he also served on the Dumont Fire Department for twenty-nine years.

Doug was dedicated to work and would get up and help out whenever it was needed day or night. He enjoyed a nap whenever he could get away with it. Community events were a favorite of his, being able to have some drinks and converse with family and friends. If you ever rode on a golf cart with him, you knew well enough to hold on tight.

Doug always loved to go hunting, bowling, play smear, gamble a bit at the casino and also played softball in his younger years. He was a fun-loving guy, some of his favorite words were “What?” “Why?” and “How Come?”.

Forever in our hearts will be the memory of a loving, compassionate husband, father, uncle and a great friend to many.

Doug is survived by his wife Linda Olson of Dumont, Minnesota; daughter Brandi Olson of Fargo, North Dakota; three brothers: Daryl (Janie) Olson and their children Derek and Amber of Brandon, SD; Deland (Debbie) Olson and their children Dan, Jake, Jillian and Jenna of Becker, MN; Dean (Julie) Olson, and their children Justine and Marc of River Falls, WI; siblings-in-law: Adeline “Sis” (David) Foley of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Butch (Glenna) Doll, and their children RaNae, Mike, Theresa, and Roger of Dumont, MN; Patty (Jay) Nicholls, and their children Leslie, Kelly, and Morgan of Hastings, MN; ten great-nieces and nephews, extended family and special friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents: Duane and Dorathea Olson and parents-in-law: Cletus “Click” and Marie Doll.
