Elaine Chaput

Funeral Service for Elaine J. Chaput, 65, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Organist will be LeAnn Bjornson with special music by Dennis Johnson. Visitation will be held Monday, January 26th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Interment will take place at a later date. Elaine was born on August 2, 1943 to Wilton and Sylvia (Reynolds) Lundquist in Parnell Township, rural Wheaton, Minnesota. She attended rural country school and later graduated from Wheaton High School in 1960. She furthered her education attending one year of college at Concordia in Moorhead, Minnesota, before attending St. Cloud Beauty School, graduating with a degree in Cosmetology. She met the love of her life, Ron Chaput, and was married on July 2, 1966. The couple resided in Hibbing, Minnesota. Elaine gave birth to a son Michael on August 24, 1966. The family lived in Hibbing until 1969 when they moved back to Wheaton and Elaine started styling hair at Lillians Beauty Shop. In 1972, she opened her own business out of the Lundquist Seed & Feed building and continued there until 1976 when she transferred the business to her home. On November 14, 1978 their second child, a daughter, Lori, was born. Elaine continued to style hair until health reasons forced her to retire in October of 2005. Elaine enjoyed the time spent at their lake cabin, reading, traveling by car and motorcycle, being with her grandchildren, her strong faith in the church, and being with her many friends and family. She was a history buff about where people came from and their place in the world. Her children were her life and she cherished every moment with them. Elaine passed away on January 13, 2009 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, after a battle with cancer. Elaine is survived by two children: Michael Chaput of Wheaton, and Lori (Randy) Anderson of rural Fairmount, North Dakota, five grandchildren: Mara Porter, Cameron Porter, Tara Porter, Bodie Anderson and Natasha Anderson, one great-grandchild: Joseph Porter, two brothers: Eugene (Eileen) Lundquist and John (Carol) Lundquist all of Wheaton. Many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents: Wilton and Sylvia Lundquist and her husband: Ron Chaput on November 26, 2008.
