Evelyn Raguse

Funeral Service for Evelyn Helena Raguse, 88, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Organist will be Theresa Thiel with special music provided by Diane Vollmers. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Visitation will be held Monday, August 15th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time on Tuesday morning. Evelyn was born in LeMars Township, Fairmount, North Dakota on October 8, 1922 to Joseph and Gertrude Becker. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1939 and furthered her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota receiving her teaching certificate in 1941. Evelyn taught school for two years in South Dakota. She met her love Arnie at the President Roosevelt Birthday Ball in Wheaton in 1940. They were engaged on Valentines Day in 1943 and married June 9th the same year. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage together. They were blessed with three children, Douglas, Luana and Paulette. The couple farmed in Taylor Township for three years then bought a farm in Nashua which they farmed until retirement in 1979. They lived on Pomme De Terre Lake before moving to Wheaton in 1995. They wintered in Weslaco, Texas for over twenty five years and took many trips and tours along the way. Evelyn loved serving her Lord and being with family and friends. She loved dancing and playing cards. She loved writing poetry and blessed many occasions with her special poem written for it. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League, a Sunday School Teacher, and Ladies Aid member. Evelyn passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Sanford Medical Center in Wheaton. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Arnold, Daughters: Luana (Jack) Maxwell of Great Falls, Montana, and Paulette Raguse of Breckenridge, Minnesota, Daughter-in-Law, Dianne Raguse of Nashua, Minnesota, Grandsons: Dustin and Darin (Sarah) Raguse, Jesse (Kim) Raguse, James (Amy) and Troy (Jessica) Maxwell, and ten Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Le Ila (Alan) Shaw of Boise, Idaho, Sister-in-law, Gloria Moeller of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and one Brother-in-law, Marvin Raguse of Wheaton, Minnesota. Evelyn was preceded in death by her Son, Douglas, Parents, Joseph Becker and Gertrude and Herman Moeller, Sisters: Lorraine Becker, Luella Brennan and Angie Juvick, and one Brother, Herman Moeller. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Radio Broadcast.
