Funeral Service for Gail Bartell, age 77, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Tom Olson officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Bartell, John DeBuhr, Mitchell DeBuhr, Gary Thorstad, Jerry Bruns, Roger Derby and Dale Ennen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gails grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28th from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Chapel in Herman. Gail was born on January 20, 1935 in Grant County, Minnesota to Kenneth and Magna Mae (Olson) Cobb. She grew up in and attended church at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Norcross. She graduated from Herman High School in 1952. Gail and Kenneth Bartell were married on October 9, 1952. They were members of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Norcross. After their church closed, Ken and Gail began attending Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Gail was active in her church and community. She held many offices in the Our Saviours Church including: Ladies Aid and Sunday School Superintendent, she was an adult leader of Prairie Ramblers 4-H Club and played piano for many of Our Saviours church groups. Gail and Ken farmed for many years together in Clifton Township. She loved baking and making iced tea, fishing, along with reading, sewing and making quilts for all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What Gail enjoyed most was spending time with all of her family. Gail passed away on August 25, 2012 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Gail is survived by three children: Terry (Lois) Bartell of Herman; Kathy (Les) DeBuhr of Chokio, Minnesota; and Bonnie Bartell of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren: Michael (Audra) Bartell of Alexandria, Minnesota; Christa (Chris) Howell of Moorhead, Minnesota; Nancy (Brandon) Solberg of Seattle, Washington; John DeBuhr of Crookston, Minnesota and Mitchell DeBuhr of Chokio; great-grandchildren: Carter, Claire, Caden, Olivia, Isabelle and William. Gail was also survived by her sister-in-law Sylvia (Robert) Fridgen of Plymouth, Minnesota and brother-in-law Paul Bruns of Hoffman, Minnesota. Gail was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, parents Kenneth and Mae Cobb, and parents-in-law William and Jennie Bartell.
