George Beyer

George Beyer of Wheaton, age 97, passed away Sunday morning at the St. Catherines Living Center in Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services were held Friday, May 12th, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Monson Township, Wheaton, Minnesota, with Rev. Dale Young officiating. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Pallbearers were: Wade Johns, Troy Beyer, Rodd Beyer, Donald Beyer, Bill Raguse, and Lynn Propp. Burial was at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton, www.ranneyfuneralhome.com, was in charge of arrangements. George Beyer was born February 10, 1909 to Herman and Dora (Propp) Beyer in Taylor Township, rural Wheaton, MN. George was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor Township, April 11, 1909. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran, Monson Township April 5, 1925. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Taylor Township and later a member of Immanuel, Monson. After attending school in Taylor Township, he lived and worked on the family farm until his marriage to Lydia Louise Raguse on April 13, 1941. They continued to farm in Taylor Township until retirement in 1975. They spent winters in California from 1973-1998. George and Lydia enjoyed summers at their lake cabin on South Turtle Lake where they spent a lot of time fishing. George and Lydia moved to Prairie View Place in Wheaton in 2001 where George continued to live after Lydia moved to the Wheaton Care Center and died Nov. 6, 2005. George loved to play cards and visit with anyone he saw. He gardened wherever he lived and delighted in having the first tomato of the season. Survivors are two children, Robert (Darlene) Beyer, Tintah, MN and Jacquelyn Johns (fianc Jack Bright), Fresno, CA, three grandsons, Wade Johns, Santa Barbara, CA, Troy Beyer, Houston, TX and Rodd (Jamie) Beyer, Wheaton, MN and one great granddaughter. Aspen Beyer. Preceding George in death are his parents, his wife Lydia, two brothers: Walter and Frederick, and one sister-Ruth, and two grandsons: Grant Johns and Keith Beyer.
