Gordon "Corky" Lewis, age 90, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, North Dakota.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Brad Lewis and Pastor Tim Shekleton. Musicians will be Pastor David Schuster and Sarah Martin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Military Rites will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post #80. Pallbearers will be Daniel Lewis, Craig Bihrle, David Bihrle, David Lande, Mike Olson and Brad Mlynar. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rachel Lewis and Heidi Seeger.

Gordon Joel Lewis was born September 24, 1926 in Erdahl, Minnesota to Adrian and Ida (Iverson) Lewis. He grew up in the Erdahl area graduating from Elbow Lake High School in 1944. He enrolled in the United States Army on January 27, 1945 and served until his honorable discharge on August 24, 1946. For his service he received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

Gordon returned home from the Service and met the love of his life Pearl Jacobson who was teaching school in the Elbow Lake area. The couple married on June 4, 1948 at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. To this union two sons were born: Brad and Mitch. Gordon began farming on Pearl's family's farm in the Wheaton area while Pearl continued teaching school in Elbow Lake, rural Traverse county schools and later in the Wheaton Public School system where she taught for 35 years.

Gordon was very active in his community serving on numerous boards including twenty-six years as a Traverse County Commissioner, the Wheaton Dumont Elevator Board, the Bethlehem Covenant Church Board, the Wheaton Swimming Pool Board, and the County Welfare Board. Gordon was a member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church for over sixty years, a member of the Wheaton American Legion for over fifty years, and a 4-H Club adult Leader for ten years.

Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, meeting new people, but mostly spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren.

Gordon is survived by two sons: Brad (Kay) Lewis of Moorhead, Minnesota; and Mitch Lewis of Eagan, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Daniel Lewis (girlfriend Heidi Seeger) of Moorhead, Minnesota and Rachel Lewis of Moorhead, Minnesota; brother Adrian (Mary) Lewis of Lakewood, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Pearl; parents: Adrian and Ida (Iverson) Lewis; sisters Gladys Ekensteen and Eva Lewis; and brother Emerson Lewis.
