Funeral Services for Henry C. Bertram, 87, of Herman, Minnesota were held Sunday, January 15, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eden Reformed Church of Herman, with Pastor Ted Graf officiating. Pallbearers were David Findlay, Terry Bartell, Mike Carlson, Ronnie Volker, Terry Christians, Larry Brunkow, Jeff Nachbor, and Dany Pederson. Visitation was Saturday, January 14, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Herman, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Henry was born on March 25th, 1918 to Herman and Tena (Bartell) Bertram on a farm in Traverse County. He was able to finish an 8th grade education before his help was required on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942, and served as a locator board operator in Pearl Harbor until his discharge in 1945. He was united in Marriage to Mary Ann Vipond on December 29th, 1949. He farmed in Grant County with his son Merlin until his retirement in 1985. Henry enjoyed hunting pheasants, and fishing for walleye, in his younger days, and later enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren, as they grew and changed. Henry died at the Courage Cottage at Morris, Minnesota on January 10th, 2006, where he was a hospice patient for the past week He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, Daughters: Jackie Buss of Morris, and her sons: Jeb (Jana), and their daughter, Alanna, of Brooklyn Park; Jeremy (Hope) Buss, and their children: Devin, Mia, and Brayden, of Motley; Steven Buss of Brooklyn Park, Adam Buss and daughter Emma Rose of Mound; Monica Bertram of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Vicki (Tom) Leuthardt of Chokio, and their children: Misty (and her fiancé Brian Riskey) of Fargo, ND, and Nicholas of Mantorville, MN, and his sons Jordan and Jayden; and his daughter in-law Viola Bertram, of Wheaton, and her sons Zachery, Arik and Christopher. He is also survived by four brothers: Herman Jr. of Biwabik, MN, Leslie (Darlene) of Herman, Rudy of Herman, Theodore (Darlene) of Hewitt. He is also survived by brother in-law Harold Hildebrand of Herman, Sisters in-law Roberta Bertram of Verndale, and Marvis Bertram of Wheaton, and Bill and Ardyce Vipond of St. Cloud, Mn., and special cousin, Susan Bertram of Fergus Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Merlin, an infant brother, and brothers Gary, Ervin, Fred, and sister Helena.
