James Diehl

James Peter Diehl, age 76, of Dumont, Minnesota passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 due to an accident on his property near his residence in Dumont.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Time of Sharing at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton.

James "Jim" was born January 2, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to James and Margaret (Grohs) Diehl. Jim grew up in Minneapolis the only child of James and Margaret. His father passed away when he was eight years old. Jim never married, but always lived near and took care of his mother until her passing in 1991. Jim joined the national guard, and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Science degree. He worked at several auto businesses in Minneapolis. Jim loved all animals and playing golf. He loved to fix things and tinker with anything that was not working. His motto was "If I can't fix it, it isn't broke". He liked helping his friends with mechanical issues.

Jim enjoyed visits to his mothers hometown, Dumont, Minnesota. He visited as a boy and loved the rural country. He loved watching the Dumont Saints teams of the 50's and remembered and spoke of those memories fondly. Following his mothers passing, he purchased property just south of Dumont. He commuted for several years on weekends and later sold his home in Minneapolis and moved permanently to Dumont. Jim often spoke about how much he loved the small town atmosphere and the friendly people. He was never short on words and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved to tease and make people laugh. Jim Met Kristine Cipra in 2013 and had a very special relationship. Jim will be dearly missed by many!

Jim is survived by many cousins, extended family, friends, and his beloved cat Sparky.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
