James "Jim" Frisch Sr., age 75, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Moorhead Rehabilitation and Health Center in Moorhead, Minnesota.
James P. Frisch Sr. was born on May 13, 1945. He was married to Sharon Roseann Fleischfresser of Herman, MN on July 16, 1966. James was born and raised on the family farm near Dumont, MN. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School in Dumont and the Morris Ag School graduating in 1963. He held a few different jobs before joining the Navy. James entered the United States Navy where he served from March 1964 until 1980. He received the rank of IC1 in Vietnam as an electrician that served as a crew member of the USS Cochran and USS Yosemite. He was stationed at the naval submarine base, Pearl Harbor. He was the recipient of four Good Conduct Award Medals, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
He worked for Henry’s until 1981 when he started working at the St. Paul Post Office until he retired to Wheaton. He enjoyed bowling, taking pictures, watching old westerns and was a Star Trek fan. He loved spending time with family and friends. Jim’s main hobby after he retired was doing genealogy for his family and others. He traced our ancestors back to Germany, even finding a picture of their homestead.
James is survived by his wife of fifty-four years Sharon; his children: Rebecca (Virgil) Cole; James P. Frisch Jr. (Deanne); and Sylvester (Kim) Frisch; five grandchildren: Michael Colby; Alexis Jones; Austin Frisch; Wyatt Frisch and Tristan Frisch; his great-grandchildren: Colton, Isabella, J.T. and Mike Jr.; siblings: Michael (Karen) Frisch, Kathi (Roger) Schmitz, Jane Frisch, Connie (Gene) Drewelow and Tami (Robin) Siegel.
James was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester and Lucille (McClain) Frisch; baby brother Douglas Frisch; baby sister Mary Frisch, brother Mark Frisch and step-mother Helen Frisch.
A Private Family Funeral Service was held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton with Fr. John Paul Knopik officiating. A Graveside Service (public invited) will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Dumont, Minnesota.
