James McCartney

James LaVonne McCartney passed away peacefully on March 20, 2020 surrounded by his family at Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, MN.

Due to new guidelines set in place by the CDC a Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. Burial will take place in Briggsdale, CO.

James " Jim" McCartney was born in Briggsdale, Colorado on February 27, 1931. He had a passion to travel taking several trips across the United States over the years. He enjoyed spending his summers at the cabin on Lake Traverse and enjoyed his winters in California until moving to Minnesota to be near family. Jim had a quick wit and great sense of humor; noting to make people laugh, and was easy to get along with. He was always on an adventure wherever you saw him and had a story to tell. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially as "old papa" to his great-grandkids. He always made a friend wherever he went and was proud of his Irish Heritage. The family would like to thank the staff at Traverse Care Center and CHI Home and Hospice for their great care.

He is survived by his two daughters: Lori (Jim) Doll of Wheaton; and Diane McCartney-Hannah of Oregon; three grandchildren: Kristi Doll, John ( Samantha) Doll both of Wheaton; and Ian McCartney-Hannah of Oregon; four great-grandchildren: Emily, Braylee, Kinsley and Maddex; and one sister Geri (Dick) Coyne of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his son Greg; parents and siblings.
