Jean Diane Bruns

Jean Bruns, age 74, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Monday, December 22, 2025 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Jean Diane (Bentson) Bruns, daughter of Louie and Ruth Bentson, was born on April 18, 1951, in Windom, Minnesota. She grew up in the Donnelly area on a large dairy farm, and graduated from Morris Area High School in Morris, Minnesota.

Following her schooling, Jean worked as a CNA at the Wheaton Care Center. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Lyndon Bruns of Herman, Minnesota. Jean and Lyndon were united in marriage on November 7, 1970, at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church. Together, they were blessed with two children.

Jean and Lyndon made their home on the Bruns family farm, where Jean devoted herself to raising their children. After the birth of their youngest, she became a stay-at-home mother, lovingly caring for her family while also helping with farm duties and growing pickles that were sold to the Gedney Pickle Company. Jean loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling with Lyndon by her side. When her children were in elementary school, Jean was actively involved in Bible School, 4-H and cub scouts, always ensuring their home was one filled with warmth, faith, and love.

Jean had a creative spirit and found great joy in ceramics and painting. This passion led her to co-own and operate a ceramic shop in Herman, Minnesota, which she ran through 1994. After the shop closed, Jean continued to express her creativity through her artwork, crafting pieces of her own and attending craft shows throughout Minnesota.

Jean Diane Bruns was the kind of woman whose love could be felt the moment you walked into a room — usually followed by a warm smile, a bit of dry humor, and the comforting sense that you were exactly where you belonged. A natural nurturer, Jean took care of everyone around her, from her family to her beloved dogs. She found joy and peace in painting, often laughing that her art didn’t need to be perfect to be beautiful — a belief she carried into life as well.

Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and spoiled with love, patience, and just enough mischief to make memories unforgettable. Jean’s faith was quiet but steady, guiding her with kindness, grace, and a deep trust in God’s plan. She will be remembered for her gentle humor, loving heart, and the way she made others feel cared for. Jean is now at peace, resting in God’s loving arms.

Jean was survived by her loving husband, Lyndon Bruns; her children, Chad (Melody) Bruns and Carey (Tyson) Giese; her grandchildren, Amber (Sean) Weibel, Taylor (Tara) Giese, and Jacey (Aaron) Richter; her step-grandchildren, Cassandra and Keith Potts; and her great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Myla: and one great-grandchild expected in March.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Ruth Bentson; father-in-law Folkert Bruns, mother-in-law Gladys Bruns; her sister-in-law, Jan Bentson; and her nephew, Dusty Bentson.
