John Morrow

Funeral Services for John E. Morrow, 95, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Pallbearers will be Cory Morrow, Kirk Morrow, Thad Gilbertson, Troy Gilbertson, Wally Lund and Don Hennings. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Residents and Staff at Prairieview. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman at a later date. Visitation will be held Friday, March 26th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. John Edward Morrow was born on a farm in Traverse County, Minnesota on January 17, 1915, the son of Edward and Ida Mary (Graper) Morrow. He was raised on the Morrow farm where he attended rural school District #48 with his sisters: Dorothy, Irene, and Ida. He graduated from Morris Agriculture School in 1933. He married Helen Maudal on March 21, 1936 in Norcross. They resided in the community, engaged in farming. They had three children: Courtlyn, Iris and Janice. Helen died October 24, 1969. Courtlyn passed away September 3, 1995. He married Mary Jenkins and gained a stepdaughter, Joan Block. They retired from farming in 1974 and, after spending winters in Texas and Arizona, eventually bought a home in Port Charlotte, Florida. Mary died April 18, 1989. Longtime friend and former neighbor, Sophie Berger, joined him in Florida and they spent their winters there until 2001 when they moved to Herman year-round. He has lived at Prairiview Place in Wheaton since 2005. John passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Rosholt Care Center in Rosholt, South Dakota. John is survived by: daughters Iris (Wally) Lund of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Janice (Don) Hennings of Wayzata, Minnesota: daughter-in-law EaVon Morrow (Meinard), stepson-in-law Paul Block and grandchildren: Cory (Michelle) Morrow, Norcross, Kirk (Kris) Morrow, Waterford, Michigan, David (Beate) Dempsey, St. Polten, Austria, Thad (Angela) Gilbertson of Rogers, and Troy Gilbertson, Big Lake: great grandchildren: Sean, Andrew, Boone, Austin and Brody Morrow, Kaylie and Finnian Dempsey and Kate and Taylor Gilbertson and step grandchildren: Theresa (Stan) Sogard, Kathy (Mike) Nolan, Greg (Jo) Block, Tim (Donna) Block, and Tom (Shelly) Block John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, wives, son, stepdaughter, granddaughter, Londa, stepgrandson, Mark, and sisters: Ida, Dorothy and Irene.
