Kaye Hormann, age 83, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the Essentia Health Grace Home in Graceville, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, February 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton.
Kaye Helene Hormann was born on May 5, 1942, in Fairmount, North Dakota, to Alvis and Elsie (Vanderwerff) Meyer. She grew up alongside her three siblings—Arlys, Richard, and Cleo—and attended school in Fairmount until the age of seventeen.
On Halloween night in 1958, Kaye met the love of her life, Louis Junior Hormann, on a blind date. The two were married shortly thereafter on September 5, 1959, at St. Anthony’s Church in Fairmount. They began their married life on a farm located a mile and a half from what would later become the family farm, and in 1962, they purchased their own homestead where they built a life together.
Kaye enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, reading, and especially tending to her beloved flowers. She lovingly knitted countless blankets for her children and grandchildren. Kaye was active in several organizations that meant a great deal to her, including TOPS, the Red Hats Club, Garden Club, Bunco Club, her regular coffee group at the Corner Café, and the Ave Maria Church luncheon committee.
Despite the fact that her children moved some distance away, she always remained a presence in their lives. She diligently gifted all the family members a Hallmark ornament and made her delicious homemade Christmas cookies every year. She put in a lot of effort to make family feel special and welcome whenever there was a family gathering. She rarely missed sending cards for birthdays and anniversaries. Kaye also loved taking care of her family in whatever way she could. She loved and adored her Ragdoll kitty, Emme’, with all her heart. Kaye had many friends that unfortunately passed before her. We know she is happy with them now and all of her family members who preceded her. We see her now in Louis’ strong loving arms and playing Bunco while drinking a glass of Chardonnay.
Kaye was survived by her children: Robin Ulrich; Kelly (Anita) Hormann; Kimberly (Lawrence) Sickerson; and Jon Hormann; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
Kaye was preceded in death by her husband Louis Junior Hormann; parents Alvis and Elsie Meyer; siblings: Arlys Meyer, Richard Meyer and Cleo Enderle; and daughter-in-law Cheri Hormann.
