Funeral Service for Laura Snooky Schild, 94, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Organist will be Sara Rinke. Pallbearers will be Angie and Tom Anderson, Darcy and Mark Wencl and Scott and Kim Hess. Honorary Pallbearers will be Snookys Great Grandchildren and Thayne and Jeremiah Johnson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Snooky was born on September 22, 1915 in Douglas, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Anna (Tschetter) Kuhlman. She was one of nine children born to this family. She attended schools and grew to womanhood in Huron, South Dakota. On March 24, 1934, Snooky was united in marriage to George Schild in Hancock, Minnesota. The couple lived in Appleton for a short period before settling in Wheaton. One daughter, Roxanne Dawn Schild, was born to this union. Snooky was employed at the J.C. Penney Store, worked as an elementary school cook, and served as a librarian at the Wheaton Library. She was also active with the St. John Lutheran Church circles and memorials as well as volunteered with the Wheaton Hospital Auxiliary. Snooky passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Wheaton Community Hospital with her family at her side. Snooky is survived by her daughter Roxy (Orval) Hess of Wheaton, grandchildren Angie (Tom) Anderson of Alexandria, Minnesota, Darcy (Mark) Wencl of Plymouth, Minnesota and Scott (Kim) Hess of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, great-grandchildren: Kreg Anderson, Jack Anderson, Lucas Wencl, Alex Hess, Kyle Hess and Ashley Hess as well as six nieces and nephews. Snooky was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Rudy, Bill, Herb, Oscar, Jim, George, Ted and sister, Ella Hofer.
