LaVerne Peickert

LaVerne "Sam" Peickert, age 75, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his residence in Wheaton.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dumont, Minnesota. Honorary urn bearers will be Sam's nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

LaVerne Ernest Walter Peickert was born October 17, 1941 in Graceville, Minnesota to Earnest and Ruth (Church) Peickert. He was baptized in St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, Minnesota. Sam attended school in Graceville and graduated in 1960.

Sam worked for Dumont Fertilizer for a few years before driving semi-truck for LeRoy Johnson Trucking in Dumont where he worked until he retired at the age of sixty-two.

Sam loved fishing, driving around Wheaton, visiting with family and friends and gardening.

Sam was united in marriage to Donna Feldick on June 22, 1968. The couple was blessed with three children.

Sam is survived by his wife Donna of Wheaton; children: Gary Peickert of Willmar, Minnesota; Glen Peickert of Willmar, Minnesota; and Linda (Dave) Muehalbauer of Benson, Minnesota; one grandson Zachary OanVort; four brothers: LeRoy Peickert, Lowell (Carol) Peickert, Bill Peickert and Gerald Peickert all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law: Maggie and Shirley; two brothers-in-law: Chuck and Richard; and many nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jeanette Husmann, brother-in-law John Husmann, and sisters-in-law Jackie Peickert and Darlene Feldick.
