Funeral Service for LeRoy Reckner will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Horkey officiating. Organist will be Sara Rinke with special music provided by Sonny Bartells. Urn Bearers will be Dean Olhoft, Cory Morrow, Randy Olson, Marty Buttke, Brent Dilly, and Jim Fibranz. Honorary Urn Bearers will be Russell Smith, George Sawyer, Ron Schoephoerster, Evan Olson, John Muellenbach and Orval Hess. Interment will be Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28th from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. LeRoy Wallace Reckner was born on September 28, 1926 in Traverse County, Minnesota to Earl and Mary (Lupkes) Reckner. He grew up on a farm near Norcross, Minnesota and attended school at District 57 in Traverse County. LeRoy was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. He was united in marriage to Shirley Wohlenhaus on April 14, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. To this union, three sons were born, Jon, Joel and Jim. LeRoy and Shirley lived on the farm until moving to Wheaton in August of 1995. LeRoy was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, serving on the Board of Elders for several terms and also as Congregational President. He was active in the National Farmers Organization as County President, volunteer and Grain Representative. He managed the NFO Grain office in Wheaton for several years and also worked out of the Fargo NFO Office for the National Grain Department. Since retirement he has enjoyed reading, watching sports, bowling, playing cards and pool. He delivered Meals on Wheels and was honored on the Wheaton Senior Hall of Fame and served as Co-Chair for the Traverse County American Cancer Society Relay for Life. LeRoy passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Shirley of Wheaton, one son Jim Reckner of West Fargo, North Dakota, brother-in-law, Lyle (JoAnn) Wohlenhaus of Wheaton, one sister-in-law, Amy Reckner of Herman, Minnesota, and many cousins, friends and extended family. LeRoy was preceded in death by two sons: Jon Reckner and Joel Reckner, his parents, and one brother, Albert, and daughter-in-law, Joanne Reckner..
