Linda M. Wagner

Linda Mae Tracy Wagner, age 81, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 after a long battle with physical and dementia-related health issues.

Linda was born in Graceville, Minnesota on March 28, 1943 to Esther and Glen Tracy of rural Dumont, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in St John’s church in Dumont and attended school in Herman, Minnesota.

On August 23, 1958 she married her high school sweetheart Vernell Wagner. Three children Scott, Brenda and Tammy were born to them in four years’ time. During 1961 to 1974, they made their homes in Salina and Abilene, Kansas; Stanton, California; and Enumclaw, Washington. Linda provided a home for Vernell and the three children and took great pride in being a mother and homemaker.

In 1974 they returned home to Minnesota and lived in the Herman area. Linda enjoyed two favorite jobs outside the home. She worked for ten years as a cook at the Home 20 Restaurant in Elbow Lake perfecting and keeping the secret of the Silo Burger Secret Sauce. She later worked alongside her mother Esther as a housekeeping aide at the Wheaton Hospital. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending quality time with family and taking motorcycle trips with her husband.

Due to poor health, Linda was a resident at the Hoffman Senior Living for three years. She then lived with Tammy and Darin Lyman where she was loved and cared for by all her family. After almost sixty-four years of marriage, Vernell passed away in 2022.

Even though her later years were hindered by her ailments, she was always able to make her children and grandchildren smile. She had a wonderful gift of making each one feel valued and loved and they have very special memories.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family…Children: Scott and wife Melanie of Medora, North Dakota; Brenda Severance and husband Tom; and Tammy Lyman and husband Darin, all from Herman. Also joining the family are five grandchildren: Ryan Wagner; Sonya Lubenow and husband James; Matt Severance; Tara Nordquist and husband Cory; and TJ Severance and wife Mackenzie. The Wagners are blessed with sixteen great grandchildren: Four Cedars Standing, Spotted Shield, Faces the Dawn, Red Earth, Walks with the Wind McKenna, Rylie, Halli, Gracee, Kamryn, Kailyn, Braylee, Reece, Paityn, Carsyn, and Hayden. Also surviving are sisters: Pat Karl and her friend Walt Blume; brothers: Gary Tracy and wife Pat; Rodney Tracy; nieces: Yvette Tracy La Vallee, Sarah Karl, Carey Tracy Dueaiappa; nephews: Brian Karl, Tait Tracy; and sisters-in-law: Elvina Aanerud and husband Dean; and Nadine Wagner Brown and husband David.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Vernell; parents Glen and Esther Tracy; grandparents Bert and Alma Bullock, and Cortis and Jenny Tracy; and in-laws Howard and Esther Wagner.
