Lloyd Louis Schaunaman was born June 30, 1935 to Oscar and Agnes Dierks Schaunaman of rural Sisseton, SD.  Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sisseton.

Lloyd was the oldest of three children and lived his childhood on his parent’s farm east of Sisseton.  He attended country school for eight years, a walk several miles away to Grant #3.  Lloyd then began attending Sisseton High School, where he was involved in intramural activities and FFA.  He graduated in the Spring of 1953.   Lloyd continued to farm with his father and joined the local National Guard unit.  He loved farming and continued to farm with his dad until 1961, when he married Bonnie Oletzke on April 8, 1961 when they began farming for themselves.

Lloyd loved all aspects of the farm life. He was always interested in the new machinery and better methods of bringing in a good crop.  He encouraged his daughters LeighAnne and Vickie to help with the farm work and taught them to handle the machinery.  Lloyd was a board member for Farmers Union and CENEX.  He also was a supervisor for Bossko Township.  Lloyd participated in the crop show for many years and sold Seed Corn. After he moved to the farm east of Sisseton, Lloyd began his collection of   John Deere antique tractors.  He acquired Harry Oletzke’s, Bonnie’s uncle, antique John Deere. Then he happened to see another antique John Deere Tractor at a local auction that was just like the one they had on the farm as a kid.  It turned out to be the EXACT tractor because he recognized the dent he had put in it decades before!  So, the Antique John Deere collection began-- He was known to display them, and even put Christmas lights on them for some years.  He enjoyed driving them in the Sisseton Horse and Buggy Days parades.  Lloyd bowled, loved parades, fireworks, a good steak, spotless machinery, buffets, and old- time music.   He especially loved when he and Bonnie would go out Saturday night and waltzed.

Lloyd had one grandchild, Alex, of whom he was very proud. He and Alex worked the fields together, especially during harvest.  He taught Alex, as he had done with his daughters.  Lloyd attended many activities Alex was involved in during high school.  Including a once-in-a lifetime trip to Europe with the Music Ambassadors in which he and Bonnie were able to attend.  Most recently, Lloyd looked forward to visits with his great-grandchildren, Raina and Liam.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie; daughters LeighAnne George of Sioux Falls, SD and Victoria Schaunaman of Sisseton, SD; Grandson Alex George and his wife Erica, great-grandchildren Raina and Liam; sister, Sylvia Deutsch, brother John Schaunaman and wife Kathy; and many nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Agnes
