Marlos Bacon

Marlos E. (Schwensohn) Bacon, age 89, of Herman, Minnesota passed away from Congestive Heart Failure on November 17, 2019 at the West Wind Village in Morris, Minnesota.

Marlos was born on her parent’s farm in Macsville Township near Herman, MN. She was the first born of Henry and Anna (Hendrickson) Schwensohn on May 17, 1930. Marlos graduated from Herman High School in 1948. She married (Charles) Walter Bacon after graduating. Together they made their home in Herman throughout their fifty-six years of marriage.

Marlos and Walter enjoyed traveling on several bus trips throughout the U.S.A. including Canada and Mexico. Marlos was a member of the United Methodist Church in Herman for seventy-one years. She participated by singing in and directing the church choir, playing piano for release time and serving on the church council. Later in life she enjoyed oil painting where she took first place for her painting at the Grant County Fair.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents and her brother Roger Schwensohn.

Marlos is survived by her three children: Diane (Ken) Werk, Charles K. (Sharon) Bacon and Marilyn (Jerry) Underwood; nine grandchildren: Brian (Kayla) Werk, Bradley Werk, Craig (Laura)Werk, Dawn Bacon (Ryan Anderson), Amanda (Eric) Dwinell, Shannon Bacon (James Bergman), Mark Underwood (Amy Gabler), Darin (Stacy) Underwood, Sarah (Adrian) Twa and eighteen great-grandchildren.

We want to express our deep gratitude for the staff at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. They made Marlos’ last years and days comfortable.

Funeral Services are scheduled at the United Methodist Church in Herman, MN on Sunday, November 24th at 12 Noon. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. A dinner will be served following the funeral service. In lieu of thank you notes a donation will be made to some local organization.
