Marlys Arnita Kochie, 93 of Houston, MN and formerly of Wheaton, MN, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton with Rev. Darrell Boe officiating. Visitation will held one hour prior to service time at the church. Inurnment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Marlys was born November 29, 1921 in Twin Brooks, SD to Robert and Nora (Hof) Johnston. She graduated from Osage High School in Iowa. On June 19, 1942, Marlys married Forrest Kochie. They made their home in Wheaton where they farmed for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, Women's Association, church circle and the neighborhood Homemakers Club. She enjoyed needlework and sewing and was very talented at both. Marlys is survived by her three children, Jack (Gail) Kochie of Shoreview, Jim (Jo) Kochie of Hokah and Judy Browne of St. Paul; seven grandchildren, Ben Kochie of Germany, Nora Kochie of Seattle, Nate Kochie of New York, Jon Kochie of La Crosse, WI, Alexander Browne of Minneapolis, Adriane Kochie of New Albin, IA and Andrew Browne of St. Paul; one great granddaughter, Harper Lou Kochie and one sister, Mary Updegraff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest in 2007; parents and one sister, Shirley Demarest.
