Listen to Obituary

Michael Orville Nohre was born on August 31, 1956, and died on May 1, 2026, both in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized at the hospital, and again at First Lutheran Church by Reverend O.G. Aasen. He was confirmed at United Lutheran Church. Michael graduated from Elbow Lake High School and attended trade school while continuing to farm with his father.

Throughout his life, Michael pursued many different occupations and interests including tree planting for the government in the southern United States, working in a greenhouse, and manufacturing. Michael also spent years as an independent contractor assembling farm equipment. Michael lived in Wendell, before returning to the farm to care for his mother.

While caring for his mom, he began raising produce, and became a member of Minnesota Grown. He produced hay, several different crops, pumpkins and gords for family and friends. He enjoyed his many seed catalogs, looking for interesting things to plant. He also saved seeds from plants interesting to him. He often could be found working in his shade garden, planting and caring for his produce, baling hay, working with his varied crops, and tending to his animals. He continued this until his health prevented it. He continued with other interests as he was able, which included: US history, current events, old movies, antique machinery, old gas engines, model tractors, farm sales, and old tractors among others while battling cancer.

He loved his treasured animals of which he had many. His dogs, cats, fainting goats and donkey were all a special part of his life as were his many friends.

Michael is survived by his sister LaVon, niece Angela and nephew Nicholas (Anita) as well as three great-nieces: Lydia, Rita and Norie, and numerous relatives and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Elvina (Olson) Nohre, grandparents Sever and Liva (Burtness) Nohre, and Emil and Jenny (Ellingson) Olson; fifteen aunts and uncles, nine cousins, and many friends.

May he rest in peace.
