Mildred "Millie" Wilts, age 91, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman with Rev. Irving Arnquist officiating. Organist will be Olivia Richards with special music by Greg & Jeanne Sperr.
Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Herman. Pallbearers will be Bryan Wilts, Todd Vipond, Eric Vipond, Jason Roehl, Darin Roehl and Charlie Oachs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jennifer Joecks, Stephanie Richman, Kristen Gronwold, Amber Tabbert, Kaley Thoennes, Roseanna Ketterling, Angela Tharaldson, Karma Schneeberger, Jessica Krog, Carrie Wilts and Kellie Wilts.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman. Visitation will continue Monday afternoon one hour prior to service time at the church.
Mildred Helen (Christenson) Wilts, daughter of Thorval and Annegine (VanDyke) Christenson, was born September 24, 1926, in Eldorado Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman and attended Country School District #51 and in 1944 graduated from Herman High School. She was united in marriage to LuVern Wilts on September 21, 1949. The couple farmed and made their home in Eldorado Township until moving into Herman in 1983.
Mildred had a strong faith in which she was a Sunday School Teacher and active in B.L.C.W. at Bethel. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, fishing and camping at Ten Mile Resort and thoroughly enjoyed her morning coffee with the ladies up town, the Brunkow cousin get togethers, as well as traveling west with her friends. She will be remembered for her homemaking, gardening, home grown meals, making lefse and her famous chocolate syrup. She cherished her time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred was very talented in sewing and crocheting and loved to draw/doodle making her own greeting cards and special drawings for her family.
Millie is survived by five children: Dennis (Marcy) Wilts of Herman; Annegine (Larry) Vipond of Herman; Duane (Carol) Wilts of Chokio; Sharlene (Dale) Schmidt of Fergus Falls; and Douglas (Ellen) Wilts of Herman; son-in-law Jon (Annie) Roehl of Fergus Falls; sixteen grandchildren: thirty-five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Shirley (George) Libbon and Beverly Wilts both of Chokio; along with several nieces and nephews.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband LuVern; daughter Corrine Roehl; grandson Bruce Wilts; her parents; two sisters: Katherine (Loren) Corey and Phyllis (George) Gow; two brothers: Jake (Bernice) Christenson and Richard Christenson; and a brother-in-law Marvin Wilts.
