Funeral Service for Owen "Ole" Johanson, 78, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Willy Bock, Don Olson, Spence Lundquist Melvin Miller, Whitey Fahleen, Tony Walthall and Darold Bihrle. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton with military honors. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Owen was born on February 27, 1932 in Browns Valley, Minnesota to Algot and Hildur (Hammarsten) Johanson. Better known as Ole , he attended school in Wheaton and played an active part in the athletic program. He was specially known for his football talent. Ole worked for the Wheaton Coop Oil Company for several years prior to his purchasing of the Eastside Market. After operating the market, he bought the North Star Dairy and became the community milkman. He was known for his quality, efficiency and friendly service. Many happy days were spent hunting and fishing with his friends at their cabins on Mud and Traverse Lakes. In his later years, Ole was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Ole served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he attained the rank of Sergeant. The majority of his time was spent in Seoul, Korea and he received his honorable discharge on September 30, 1960. Ole was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Wheaton. Ole passed away July 20, 2010 at his residence in Wheaton. Ole is survived by three brothers: Verne (Joyce) Johanson of Sun City, Arizona, Donald (Yvonne) Johanson of Wheaton, and Gary (Donna) Johanson of Sun City, Arizona, and one sister: Betty Lehman of Sun City, Arizona, numerous nieces and nephews and friends of the community, and especially his friendships at the Wheaton Senior Center. Ole was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Richard and Les Johanson. Memorials preferred to the Wheaton Senior Citizen Center.
