Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Living Waters Lutheran Church, Sauk Rapids for Ray D. Crandall, age 83, who passed away Tuesday at his home. Rev. Denise Hanson will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. Ray was born Jan. 21, 1931 in North Minneapolis to Ray & Laura (Shanks) Crandall. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a gunner. Ray married Yvonne Kopitzke on Aug. 25, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins. He owned and operated Crandall's Café and Catering for 38 years. Ray was a member of Living Waters Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids and the American Legion in Wheaton. He enjoyed time at Mill Lake fishing and time with family. Ray enjoyed his social events with the "gang", shopping, cooking, eating and watching TV. Ray was a gentle person and family meant the world to him. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne of Sauk Rapids; children, Tom of New York, NY, Jean Clark of Fargo, ND, Joyce (Kurt) Zimmerman of Sauk Rapids, Janet of New York, NY, Robert of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Dane Simonson, Jordan Clark, Zachary Clark, Isaac Zimmerman, Samuel Zimmerman, Dilan Schatz and Grace Crandall; and five great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Kenneth Crandall; and sister, Joyce Triemert. Memorials are preferred to the Scleroderma Foundation.
