Roger Carl Jacobsen, a beloved member of the community and devoted family man, passed away on July 12, 2025, at Vivie Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, MN. Born on May 15, 1944, to Henry and Irene (Larson) Jacobsen in Wheaton, MN. Roger grew up immersed in the values of hard work, family, and community. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1962 and furthered his education at North Dakota State College of Science, where he focused on accounting. Roger married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Hess, on April 4, 1964 in Wheaton, MN. Two beautiful daughters, Kim and Kari were born to this union and together as a family they made Wheaton, MN their home.

Roger's career began in the accounting department of the Chevrolet Dealer in Mayville, ND, where he worked for two years.

In 1971 he joined his father and together they operated Jacobsen Gravel & Excavating until Roger eventually purchased the business. After years of dedication and hard work, he sold the business in 1986. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for 21 years with the Wheaton Fire Department.

Following the sale, Roger and Sharon, moved to Alexandria where he acquired his Real Estate License and worked in Real Estate for a few years.

When the local hardware store in Wheaton came up for sale in 1990 Roger and Sharon decided to purchase the store and move back to Wheaton. They operated Hometown Hardware until selling it in 2000. They then moved back to Alexandria, where they retired.

Roger was always described as a nice guy with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, creating lasting memories together. He shared many cherished moments with Sharon, traveling to beautiful destinations including Mexico, Hawaii, and the Bahamas. They also enjoyed memorable journeys in their RV to Florida and Arizona.

Roger had a passion for working in his yard, maintaining it to perfection, and enjoyed spending time on hobbies such as golfing, woodworking, stained glass art and playing bingo with Sharon at the local Eagles Club.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Jacobsen; daughters, Kim (Troy) Fridgen and Kari (Bryan) Sayler; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Meyer and Dustin (Ally) Fridgen; great-grandchildren, Trace, Levi, and Eve Meyer, Madison, Ivy, and Maverick Fridgen; brother, Darel (Lynda) Jacobsen; sister, Renae (Rod) Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Irene (Larson) Jacobsen. Roger will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and devotion to family. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he cherished.

A private family service will be held. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemtery, Wheaton, MN.
