Shirley Jeann Mord, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in her hometown of Wheaton, Minnesota. She was born on October 17, 1944, to Tom and Helen Monson. Shirley was the oldest of three children and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1962.

In June 1967, Shirley married Rick Dunbar, with whom she had three daughters. Later, in July 1988, she married her soulmate, David Mord. Together, they shared many years of happiness, spending their time fishing, hiking, camping, and always enjoying the companionship of a dog by their side.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, with family being the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones, especially her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Though family was her greatest priority, Shirley had a variety of passions she enjoyed. She became an accomplished quilter later in life, a craft she took up after retirement and excelled in. Other hobbies included: biking, cooking, gardening, birding, reading, and doing puzzles. She also enjoyed an occasional glass of wine.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, David, her faithful dog Cooper, daughters Kim (Joel) Larson and Stephanie (Jason) St. Aubin, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta Pederson, her brother, Tom Monson, and her brothers-in-law, Steven Mord, Tom Mord, and sister-in-law, Jeannette Mord.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Helen Monson, and her daughter, Jennifer.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
