Shirley Pieske

Shirley Ida Pieske, age 74, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Stevens County Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Eden Reformed Church in Herman, Minnesota with Rev. Ted Graf officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Shirley Ida Pieske was born August 19, 1941 in Eldorado Township in Stevens County, Minnesota to Anna (Bolkhoft) Moberg and Everette Hicks. She grew up in Stevens County and attended school in Morris.

Shirley was united in marriage to James Larson on August 16, 1959 in Starbuck, Minnesota where they resided and raised their three sons. Shirley married Arlan Pieske on December 3, 1966. Two sons were born to this union. The coupled lived in various places including Minneapolis, Chokio, Morris, Redwood Falls, Cyrus and Herman.

Shirley worked as a waitress for many years and was loved by all. Everyone called her "mom." She loved to read, travel, spend time with her grandkids, and playing "Yuker."

Shirley is survived by her friend Butch Marquett of Herman; four children: Leonard Larson of Herman; Timothy Larson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Michael Pieske of Herman; and Randy (Angie) Pieske of Hancock, Minnesota; one sister Beverly Phillips of Chokio, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Larson; mother Anna Moberg; father Everette Hicks; step-father Art Moberg; and brother-in-law Gene Phillips.
