Funeral Service for Spencer O. Lundquist, 82, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Mickey Olson and Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Organist will be Cindy Sanasack with special music provided by Marcy LeClair. Pallbearers will be Jim Schmitz, Craig Johanson, Dwight Johanson, Vern Janke, Curtis Frisch and Dean Gallup. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wilton Bock, Mike Fox, Jeff Koenen, Darold Bihrle, Tony Walthall and Jack Achter. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Spencer was born April 15, 1928 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Blanche (Oberg) and Edmund Lundquist. He was baptized and confirmed at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church. He grew up in Wheaton participating in band and many sports at Wheaton High School, where he graduated in 1946. He then attended and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College at St. Peter, Minnesota, with a degree in Biology. Shortly after graduating, his friends and neighbors selected him to join the army and relocated to Korea, where thanks to his typing abilities, he became a teletype operator. Upon returning from Korea, he and Edmund purchased the Massey Harris dealership, which became Lundquist Implement. On June 29, 1958, he married Janice Eyster. In 1967, he became a Parole and Probation Officer for a five county area, based out of Traverse County. In December, 1970, he moved his family to Fergus Falls to become a Probation Officer for Ottertail County and later, the Director of Court Services. Spencer enjoyed hunting with his Honker Bay Goose Camp buddies, Saturday morning coffee with all of his law enforcement friends, being at the lake and spending time with his sons, grandchildren, sisters, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was always active in the community as a Wheaton Fireman and Chief, Past Commander of the American Legion, Director of Kiwanis, Inc. Club in Fergus Falls and The Henkes-Mortensen American Legion Lawman of the Year. Spencer passed away January 18, 2011 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota. Spencer is survived by two sons: Lance (Cathy) Lundquist of Wheaton, Minnesota and Bruce Lundquist of Rolla, Missouri, two sisters: Yvonne (Don) Johanson of Wheaton and Twylah Benson of Greenville, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren: Benjamin Lundquist, Sarah Lundquist, Kalai Lundquist and Karly Lundquist. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law: George Benson.
