Susan Buettner, age 64, of rural Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Sunday, October 25, 2026 at her residence under hospice care.
Sue was born June 22, 1962 to Heinrich and Carolyn Woizeschke in Breckenridge MN. Sue worked a wide variety of jobs including but not limited to the 1901 Club, an auctioneer, and with the last being a waitress for her great friend Sharla, at the Family Diner, where she often turned many a customer into a friend. Throughout her various jobs, Sue and her husband, Harvey, owned and ran the family farm while also raising their kids in what they would describe as the best childhood a kid could ask for! Sue loved all of her critters and especially loved raising calves. Her devotion to caring for and raising all manner of animals is unmatched. Sue enjoyed “collecting” random animals such as emus, llamas, alpacas, and even a water buffalo named Bunker. She rose most days before the sun and wouldn’t stop working until it set, much to the kids’ chagrin. Doing chores and working hard was never a form of labor for her, it was simply her way of life. Even up until the end, she had her kids completing projects around the farm, because it needed doing and who would say no to her? Certainly not us kids.
Sue also loved to build things. Anyone who has been to the farm knows, and has probably helped to build the seven buildings she and Harvey put on the place. She always believed neighbors helped neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone asked. It seemed as though at least once a month the family was out and about lending a hand wherever help was needed.
Anyone who knew her, knew that Sue was the life of the party, she always had a joke and knew how to deliver the punchline, much like her father. She was quick witted, and would tell you how it is even if you didn’t ask. She was genuine in nature and tough at heart.
Sue is preceded in death by her father Heinrich Woizeschke.
She is survived by her mother Carolyn Woizeschke of Nashua, MN; Husband Harvey Buettner of Wheaton, MN; Children Alicia Biel (Tyler Jessen) of Nashua, MN; Ashley (Jason) Reierson of Mizpah, MN; Jacob (Hailey) Buettner of Nashua, MN; Alyssa (Brandon) Swang of Mizpah MN; Eight grandchildren Kiaya, Raelynn, Leelynd, Huntley, Kaycee, Kinsley, Riley, and Wyatt; her sister Sandra Meyer of Wheaton MN; her brothers Robert Woizeschke (Florida) and Roger Woizeschke (Mike Kerrigan) of Denver CO.
We would like to thank Lake Region Cancer Center, especially, Dr. Hessenauer and his amazing care team and their genuine care and concern for our mother. A special and huge thank you to Ashley Reierson for moving in with mom to honor her final wishes to remain at home. It was a team effort but without her that wouldn’t have been possible.
Mom loved trees in lieu of flowers consider a small tree or financial donation for trees to be planted on her farm in her memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Buettner Ranch, Saturday, November 7th, 2026 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
