Virgil Kassahn

Virgil Kassahn, age 78, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating.

Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton, Monson Township, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be Justin Meyer, Adam Campbell, Krystafer Kassahn, Tyler Kassahn, Amanda Campbell, Jessica Meyer and Krystal Kassahn. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Virgil's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 16th at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service and Time of Sharing. Visitation will continue Monday morning one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Virgil was born on August 25, 1940 to Walter and Martha (Rogahn) Kassahn at the Wheaton Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Wheaton, Minnesota and a longtime wheat and soybean farmer. His hobbies included snowmobiling, traveling and casino trips. Virgil was a talker and he could keep up with the best of them. He would always buy his vehicles from Heartland Motors in Morris. He wore his Heartland Motors hat proudly. Virgil was united in marriage to Delores Yanneyon, September 3, 1960 and welcomed four children. He later married Geraldyne Faulkner on August 1, 1975 and added eight step-children to his family.

Virgil is survived by his children: Jean (Phil) Meyer of Hankinson, ND; Vern (Della) Kassahn of St. Cloud, MN; Glen Kassahn of Fergus Falls, MN; and Cheryl (Jerry) Herding of Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren: Jessica (Cheryl) Meyer, Justin (Amber) Meyer, Krystal & Krystafer Kassahn, Alyssa, Angie, Jenna and Tyler Kassahn, and Adam, Amanda and Emily Campbell; great-grandchildren: Samantha, William, Brantley, Karley, Tabitha, Meeka, Erica, and Madison; special friend Delores Jordan; step-children: Ken (Toni) Faulkner of Anthony, NM; Allen (Luella) Faulkner of Murdo, SD; Suzy (TJ) Kai of San Antonio, TX; Patsy (Paul) Boatman of Grand Forks, ND; Mike (Mary) Faulkner of Rothsay, MN; Annette O’Keefe of St. Paul, MN; and Randy (Ruth) Faulkner of Breckenridge, MN; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Geraldyne; parents Walter & Martha; step-mother Esther; brother Norman; sister-in-law Melody; and step-son Jim.
