Yvonne Johanson, age 91, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 1, 2016 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Dan Heath officiating. Organist will be LeAnn Bjornson.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Johanson, Eric Johanson, Lance Lundquist, Chad Birchem, Chris O'Hara and Ryan O'Hara.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Yvonne Eleanor Lundquist was born January 5, 1925 at Minneapolis Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edmund and Blanche (Oberg) Lundquist. She graduated Wheaton High School in 1943 and furthered her education at Gustavus Adolphus College.
She was united in marriage to Donald Johanson on February 22, 1947 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Don and Yvonne moved to Minneapolis where they lived until 1949 when they moved to Richfield, Minnesota. In 1958 the couple returned to Wheaton where Donald worked at Lundquist Implement and Yvonne was the bookkeeper.
Yvonne was an active member of Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in Wheaton serving in many capacities including serving on their alter guild. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, her flower garden and any crafting project. Yvonne sewed blankets for all her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with Don around Lake Traverse in search of bald eagles, as well as having traveled to every State Park in Minnesota, and many car trips all over the United States.
Yvonne will be remembered for her love for her grandchildren, her proud Swedish heritage, and her fascination with hot air balloons and butterflies.
Yvonne is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years Don Johanson of Wheaton; two sons: Dwight (Mary) Johanson of Rosholt, South Dakota and Craig (Sue) Johanson of Breckenridge, Minnesota; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; brother Spencer Lundquist; and sister Twylah Benson.
